Wireless DMX Controllers for Sale

What is a DMX Controller?

The DMX-512 protocol is a digital communication protocol used to control intelligent lighting fixtures. It was originally created in 1986 and has since become the standard protocol for controlling such fixtures. The name DMX-512 means "Digital Multiplex with 512 channels". We have a range of wireless DMX controllers for sale online.

Intelligent lighting fixtures...

The expression "intelligent lighting fixtures" covers a wide range of fixtures with varying aspects able to be controlled remotely from a console, control desk, show controller or programmable sequencer. This means controlling basic LED fixtures with color control right through to the more complicated fixtures with pan and tilt movement and a large array of effects such as prism, gobo's, color mixing and more. The DMX controller or DMX master controller...

The master controller for a DMX system is responsible for broadcasting DMX data in a universe. A DMX universe consists of 512 channels of DMX data. Most fixtures within the system will use more than one channel, and very complex fixtures can use almost an entire universe.

DMX cabling & connectors

A lighting controller is used to manage a network of lighting fixtures, which are linked in a series (daisy chain) scheme. A DMX cable typically uses a 5-pin XLR connector, but usually only has three cores (positive, negative, and shield/ground) connected. To avoid data problems, you should use a terminator to end the chain. Some equipment can use 3-pin XLR connectors for DMX, but this can lead to confusion with audio cables, which more commonly use 3-pin XLR connectors.

DMX addresses

Each function on a fixture needs an address for individual control. You can use the same address for multiple fixtures if you want them to do the same things. Each fixture uses up a space in the universe. For example, if a fixture uses 11 channels and has its address set to 001, then next available address which fixture could use would be 012.

What is DMX used for?

DMX is most commonly used for controlling entertainment lighting, but can also be used for smoke and haze machines, and even video content. An increasing number of home lighting fixtures are incorporating DMX functionality, as LED lighting becomes more popular. However, DMX should not be used for controlling pyrotechnic effects or any other potentially hazardous effects.

What is wireless DMX

How does wireless DMX use Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi Wireless DMX is when, instead of using cables to connect some or all of the DMX devices in the DMX universe, we use a wireless network by using a DMX-to-WiFi transmitter and a wireless DMX receiver. A wireless DMX transmitter turns regular, wired DMX into a wireless signal that is transmitted via a Wi-F- network and then turned back into a regular DMX signal by a wireless receiver or another Wi-Fi DMX controller.

Most wireless DMX systems, like the W DMX wireless solutions, operate in the 2.4GHz frequency range, which is the same spectrum space used by many other Wi-Fi networks and the problem with this is that this can lead to issues with signal dropouts when that Wi-Fi spectrum gets crowded.

The wireless mesh DMX solution

Wired4Signs USA offers an alternative wireless DMX solution. We regard this Casambi system as not only an alternative to Wi-Fi, but a superior solution – in fact, we regard this highly stable Bluetooth mesh network system as the best wireless DMX solution. The Casambi wireless mesh technology allows up to 250 four-channel devices to be connected to a single mesh network.

How does wireless DMX controller Bluetooth work?

The Casambi Bluetooth mesh network acts as a Bluetooth DMX bridge between the DMX master controllers and DMX devices.

A wireless Bluetooth DMX setup requires a DMX wireless transmitter and receiver or, in the case where you would like to use your tablet/mobile as the master controller with a Wireless DMX app, you require only the casDMX Bluetooth DMX receiver.

Our DMXcas and CASdmx devices serve as a wireless DMX transmitter and receiver respectively.

Dimming LED Lights with DMX LED Controller

Our selection of DMX controllers presents a seamless solution for the dynamic control of LED lighting systems, ranging from versatile RGB to sophisticated LED dmx controller rgbw setups. When exploring our comprehensive lineup, you'll discover that our DMX controller LED lights harmonize effortlessly with various types of LED light tapes in our inventory, ensuring compatibility and flexibility in your lighting endeavors.

However, before embarking on the journey to select the right DMX LED controller, it's imperative to comprehend your project's intricacies. Specifically, determining the number of channels needed for control is vital. While a monochrome LED tape demands a single channel for operation, RGB and RGBW tapes necessitate three or four channels to accommodate the spectrum of colors they produce. Equally crucial is the evaluation of power consumption; ensure the chosen controller's wattage aligns with that of your LED strip light to avoid overloading and potential malfunctions.

As part of an overarching LED lighting setup, a DMX system relies on the synergy between a controller and a receiver. Here, the versatility of our DMX RGB controllers shines, as they seamlessly integrate with diverse systems, elevating your lighting configuration to new heights. With our DMX to SPI converters, you can unlock further possibilities, enabling them to function either independently or in conjunction with other DMX decoders.

Whether you're seeking to delve into the dynamic realm of DMX LED control or explore dimming lighting options, our range encompasses cutting-edge solutions like the DMX wall mount controller and more. What can be done with wireless DMX?

Our wireless DMX solutions can replace traditional wired DMX connections, or allow you to control wired DMX equipment directly from a tablet or smartphone via the Casambi app.

How do I wirelessly connect a traditional DMX master controller to a wired DMX enabled fixture?

Hardwire from the DMX master into a DMXcas and then hardwire the casDMX into the DMX wired lights to create wireless DMX lights.

Can I operate a wired DMX device from a tablet or phone without a DMX master controller?

Yes you can! Hardwire the casDMX Bluetooth receiver into your DMX wired device. Now you can control those channels via the Casambi smartphone app.

I want all my venue's lights to dim when we start a stage performance. Do you have a solution?

Yes, the SceneDMXcas is the answer. It is a Casambi gateway device that can be connected to the DMX digital master controller, which already runs your stage lighting. The DMX master can then provide remote scene selection of pre-defined Casambi Scenes and Scene Intensity to all your Casambi-enabled lighting.

How can I wirelessly operate standard LED strips from a DMX master controller?

Simply hardwire the DMXcas DMX Bluetooth transmitter into the master controller and then use one of our CBU-PWM4 Bluetooth LED controllers connected to the LED strip.

I need to wirelessly control multiple RGB LED zones, what now?

If you have multiple lighting zones, you will need multiple DMXcas (daisy chain) and CBU-PWM4 units. Simply use one pair per lighting zone.

I don't need multiple zones, but I have lots of LED strips that I want to control simultaneously from my DMX master. How do I do that?

You can use one pair of DMXcas and CBU-PWM4 transmitter and receiver, and then connect an RGB repeater such as the ampBox for each run of LED strip.

Can you daisy chain off the wireless DMX transmitter?

Yes, you can daisy chain wire the DMX connections on the casDMX and the DMXcas.

Can you get battery powered wireless DMX?

Yes, the DMXcas, SceneDMXcas and the casDMX use very little power and therefore could easily be used with a battery solution. The power requirement for the CBU-PWM4 LED controller is obviously dependant on the load of the LED strip that is connected and this will effectively determine the hours of battery life that could be achieved. Wireless DMX battery powered lights are often used for remote stage lighting installations or as event lighting.
