What are LED illuminated handrails?

These are handrails with LED strip lights installed out of sight on the bottom of the handrail. You can install these handrails with lights underneath in place of traditional handrails. The handrail profile is designed with a recess on the underneath which houses the LED strip light. The light from the LED strip is therefore directed downwards to form indirect puddle lighting on the floor.

How to install an LED handrail lighting system

1. Decide how you will route power to the LED strip. For wall mounted LED handrails, you would run the wiring through the wall bracket or else onto the end if the rail runs right up to the wall. For post mounted handrails, you can usually run the cabling up the inside of the post.
2. Mount the posts or wall brackets at an even spacing and with the mounting points in a straight line.
3. Fix the handrail profile to the mounting brackets.
4. Install the LED tape into the recess in the profile using the adhesive backing tape on the strip. Most mounting hardware allows for the LED strip or a wiring jump to run through them.
5. Connect the power supply to the LED strip, and then to the mains circuit.

Note that you should use IP68 waterproof LED strip for all outdoor under handrail lighting installations.
