What are aluminum Corner LED channels?

An aluminum corner profile is a protective enclosure for your LED lights, allowing your LED strips to dissipate heat while improving their lifespan. They are anodized and can be painted/sprayed to get your desired custom color to match the surroundings. The purpose of corner LED channels and LED diffusers is to provide the following:

  1. A cover to shield the LED chips from wind, rain, and sunlight.
  2. A diffuse appearance for your RGB or white LED strip, making it a great choice for under cabinet channels where you don't want individual spots to be visible.
  3. A heat sink panel to prevent overheating for high-output LED strips.
  4. The perfect lighting angle for display cases where you want the light to shine towards exhibition items.

Aluminum corner profiles are usually sold per component. Diffusers, end caps, and mounting channel clips can be found under the LED Corner extrusions page you're browsing. You can size them as needed using a handsaw, you can find more information in our detailed article. Tips for cutting LED channels.

Pros & Cons of using corner LED extrusions

  • Anywhere you want to install LED strips, we have a mounting channel kit. Even if you're looking for round-corner aluminum extrusions, almost all LED strips on the market can fit our wide variety of anodized corner aluminum strip channels.
  • They must be mounted on flat surfaces. It is not advised to install corner profiles on an uneven brick wall.
  • Easy installation, our corner profile channels come with easy-on diffusers and end caps, making the installation an easy process.
  • Sharp corner aluminum channels are perfect for crown molding LED fixtures, closets, or areas where it's needed that the light shines at specific angles.

How to install an aluminum corner channel for your lighting fixtures?

Although most of our LED track description pages include step-by-step instructions, here are the basic steps for setting up the installation of your corner LEd profile/extrusions:

  1. Drill an appropriately-sized hole onto a flat surface for the aluminum extrusion corner brackets.
  2. Attach the mounting clips to the surface.
  3. Mount LED light channels onto the mounting clips.
  4. Remove the protective layer of the 3M adhesives from the LED light strip, and place the strip inside the aluminum profile.
  5. Place the easy-on diffuser on the mounting channel. Then, without bending the cover, gently press down on various parts of the cover to secure the diffuser.
  6. Attach the end caps to the channel, and make sure you use an end cap with a hole to run the wires through.

Are the diffusers and other accessories sold separately?

How do you diffuse LED strips?

There are many ways to diffuse LED strips, but one of the most effective ways is using an aluminum channel. They come with Opal or Clear covers for different diffusion levels. Curved mounting channel covers will diffuse the light more than flat ones.

How to make LED strips turn corners?

To make LED strips turn corners, you can use flexible LED strip connectors or corner connectors designed for this purpose. These connectors allow the strips to bend at a 90-degree angle without damaging the circuitry. Simply cut the LED strip at the designated cutting point, attach the connector to both ends, and secure it in place. Some connectors have adhesive backing for easy installation, while others may require soldering for a more secure connection. Make sure to choose connectors compatible with your LED strip's width and type for optimal performance.

Do you need corner connectors for LED lights?

Can you cut LED lights for corners?

Yes, LED lights can be cut for corners, but it depends on the type of LED strip you are using. Many LED strips have designated cutting points marked along the strip, usually at specific intervals (like every 3 LEDs). Make sure to follow the manufacturer's guidelines to avoid damaging the strip.
