  2. Choose a channel - For a clean and modern look, use the Begtin12 or Berlin profile. They will give you a smooth and aesthetic surface to recess the lighting channel into your closet or furniture. To angle the light back onto the under-counter consider the Cabi12. 
  3. Select the correct power supply - The PSU is perfect for indoor lighting applications that will not be exposed to any moisture. First, ensure you choose the voltage that matches your strip, this is either 12 or 24v. Then select the variant with a sufficient power output (wattage). Understanding CRI: Color Rendering Index

CRI is a measure of how complete the color spectrum is in a beam of white light, and how well colors will be represented when illuminated by that light. The higher the number the better! If you have an application where accurate color rendering is a must, then these are the LED strips for you.

What is CRI in lighting?

In layman's terms, CRI is a measure of a light source's ability to show object colors "realistically" or "naturally" compared to a familiar reference source, either incandescent light or daylight. A high color rendering index is friendly for the eyes and gives a true-color rendering of illuminated objects. 

A CRI of 60 or less causes colors to looked washed out. A CRI of 80 to 90 gives acceptable color rendering for workspace use. A CRI of 90 or more provides excellent color rending.

The above diagram demonstrates the effect that high CRI light has on an object. In practice, CRI >80 provides accurate enough color rendition for us to feel comfortable with.

A CRI of 100 represents the maximum value. Lower CRI values indicate that some colors may appear unnatural when illuminated by the lamp. Incandescent lamps have a CRI above 95. Cool white fluorescent lamps have a CRI of 62; however fluorescent lamps containing rare-earth phosphors are available with CRI values of 80 and above.

CRI is calculated from the differences in the chromaticities of eight CIE standard color samples (CIE 1995) when illuminated by a light source and by a reference illuminant of the same correlated color temperature (CCT); the smaller the average difference in chromaticities, the higher the CRI.

For CCT's less than 5000 K, the reference illuminants used in the CRI calculation procedure are the SPD's of blackbody radiators; for CCT's above 5000 K, imaginary SPD's calculated from a mathematical model of daylight are used. These reference sources were selected to approximate incandescent lamps and daylight, respectively.

Difference Between CRI vs Color Temperature

When comparing CRI and Color Temperature, it's important to know what each term means. Color Temperature (CCT) tells you the type of white light a source gives off, like warm white (3000K), daylight white (4000K), or cool white (6500K).
