CRI is a measure of how complete the color spectrum is in a beam of white light, and how well colors will be represented when illuminated by that light. The higher the number the better! If you have an application where accurate color rendering is a must, then these are the LED strips for you.
We concentrate on selling high quality High CRI LED strip that works perfectly to transform the colors of your kitchen counters, furniture, retail displays etc. from being dull and boring to being vibrant and fully visible!

View full detailsIn layman's terms, CRI is a measure of a light source's ability to show object colors "realistically" or "naturally" compared to a familiar reference source, either incandescent light or daylight. A high color rendering index is friendly for the eyes and gives a true-color rendering of illuminated objects.
The above diagram demonstrates the effect that high CRI light has on an object. In practice, CRI >80 provides accurate enough color rendition for us to feel comfortable with.
A CRI of 100 represents the maximum value. Lower CRI values indicate that some colors may appear unnatural when illuminated by the lamp. Incandescent lamps have a CRI above 95. Cool white fluorescent lamps have a CRI of 62; however fluorescent lamps containing rare-earth phosphors are available with CRI values of 80 and above.
CRI is calculated from the differences in the chromaticities of eight CIE standard color samples (CIE 1995) when illuminated by a light source and by a reference illuminant of the same correlated color temperature (CCT); the smaller the average difference in chromaticities, the higher the CRI.
For CCT's less than 5000 K, the reference illuminants used in the CRI calculation procedure are the SPD's of blackbody radiators; for CCT's above 5000 K, imaginary SPD's calculated from a mathematical model of daylight are used. These reference sources were selected to approximate incandescent lamps and daylight, respectively.
When comparing CRI and Color Temperature, it's important to know what each term means. Color Temperature (CCT) tells you the type of white light a source gives off, like warm white (3000K), daylight white (4000K), or cool white (6500K).
On the other hand, CRI measures how accurately the light shows colors in your space. A higher CRI means better color accuracy, which is crucial for tasks where true colors are important. For the best visibility and color clarity, use high CRI lights with the right CCT for your needs.

A good CRI (Color Rendering Index) rating is typically considered to be 80 or above. The CRI measures how accurately a light source reveals the true colors of objects compared to natural sunlight. For most general indoor lighting applications, a CRI of 80-90 is sufficient, providing a good balance of color accuracy and efficiency. However, for tasks requiring precise color matching, such as in art studios, photography, or retail displays, a CRI of 90 or higher is preferred. A higher CRI ensures that colors appear more vibrant and true to life, enhancing the overall visual experience.
Yes, a high CRI is generally better for accurate color representation. CRI measures how accurately a light source reveals the true colors of objects compared to natural sunlight, which has a CRI of 100.
To check the CRI of an LED, refer to the product specifications or datasheet provided by the manufacturer, which will list the CRI value.
LED lights generally have a higher CRI than fluorescent lights, making them better at accurately rendering colors. LEDs typically offer a CRI of 80 to 98, while fluorescents usually range from 60 to 90. Therefore, if color accuracy is important, LEDs are the better choice.
For growing plants, a CRI of 90 or higher is ideal as it provides accurate color rendering and helps in plant growth. The Cherry Tomato Series is perfect for this purpose, offering high CRI to ensure optimal lighting conditions for your plants.
