Description

The S-Play SP1-1 is a versatile smart light show controller, ideal for automated light shows and complex projects. Engineered for projects that require precise automation, it's your all-in-one solution for the recording, triggering, and activation of not only light shows but video, non-lighting events, and much more.

It's an advanced show recorder and playback controller that allows you to create, record, schedule, and trigger light shows, video, and more, all from a single device. With DMX recording, custom user interfaces, and a built-in effects generator, it's easy to use and offers professional results without requiring expert knowledge. But the expert isn't left out, with advanced features that let you achieve even the most complex creations. It expertly integrates external hardware for smart show management, and its incredible capabilities bring you borderless control.

Record and create

The S-Play SP1-1 is a powerful, professional light show generation engine, featuring multiple ways of recording and creating content for your show.

Record light scenes into static/dynamic cues from external sources such as lighting software via Art-Net and sACN or from physical DMX universes. You can record 32 eDMX Universes of ArtNet and sACN or 2 DMX Universes via the 2 XLR DMX ports. And there's even a built-in DMX value monitor.

Use the internal web-based engine to generate gradient effect cues or simple light scenes by editing DMX values manually.

Whether crafting simple static scenes, recording dynamic cues, or easily creating gradient effect cues with the built-in pixel effect generator, the creative possibilities are vast.

Design and integrate

Creating playlists for DMX or pixel light shows is easy using the S-Play's intuitive timeline editor. The drag-and-drop interface empowers you to design up to 200 Playlists, utilising created Cues, Events, and Triggers as building blocks.

The sophisticated and intuitive playlist creation tools include:

  • Drag and drop cues, events and triggers into the timeline
  • Adjust the duration for static cues and effects
  • Fade in/out for all cues
  • Control playlist intensity in real-time
  • Design your show with a combination of different cues, events and triggers
  • Edit, loop, prioritise and group playlists
  • Play single or multiple playlists

The S-Play SP1-1 integrates with both lighting and non-lighting equipment through multiple protocols and physical interfaces. Playlists can control lighting scenes, control a wide variety of other devices, and wait for triggers from control protocols or physical interfaces. The variety of interfaces enable real-time integration with lighting control software, external building automation software, iPad apps, pressure pads, motion detectors, push buttons, and various other systems and control methods. And the open API unlocks flexible control system integration by enabling external control through text-based codes.

The Ethernet port is the star of the show: a 10/100 RJ45 network port for transmitting or receiving Art-Net, sACN, OSC, or UDP, as well as HTTP and OCD device API. This allows control of eDMX lighting systems and fixtures, and pretty much anything that's controllable via those protocols. It also enables control from – and feedback to – control software, dedicated Art-Net/sACN controllers, and OSC interfaces.

Then there's the DMX in/out: two bi-directional 5-pin XLR ports for show recording or playback using DMX512, enabling connection to DMX lighting consoles and DMX lighting fixtures, common in stage lighting and many other professional lighting applications.

Additional interfaces enable what cannot be achieved with the other methods. The RS232 serial port lets you send or receive RS232 triggers – used by building management systems, projectors, and more. The four digital inputs can detect commands from external devices such as buttons, switches, sensors, etc. And the two relay outputs enable control of analog/switchable 3rd-party devices, like curtain winches and pumps.

This means your S-Play integrates with popular systems for many purposes:

  • Stage lighting
  • Home automation
  • Building automation management
  • Conference rooms
  • Façade lighting
  • Art installations
  • Hotel lighting
  • System control
  • Hospitality lighting
  • Architainment lighting

Playback

No ongoing management is required with the S-Play: simply "set and forget" for permanent installation and easy management. You can play back your show at any time and in any way you like through interactive control or scheduled timings. Use the intuitive web-based creation tool to set up multiple playlists to play back on demand. The customised user interface simplifies commissioning to make playback easier than ever, with multiple installation options to secure your device with peace of mind. Set up multiple playlists to playback simultaneously in various ways using real-time triggers, internal schedules, or even custom user interfaces for different needs. The S-Play optimises the intricate lighting setup within finger reach so you can set and forget.

Playlists can be triggered in real-time via a multitude of triggers, from control protocols and physical interfaces.

You can also set up schedules to run playlists at specific times with unique groupings and priorities.

And custom web-based user interfaces allow direct manual control. That's right: the S-Play SP1-1 enables the creation of custom user-facing web interfaces. You can effortlessly design up to 10 user-friendly custom interfaces for intuitive and tailored playlist control, simplifying navigation for end users without complex configurations. The interfaces can be viewed from any device with a web browser when connected to the same local network as the S-Play.

In short, playlists can be set up to playback:

  • By pre-set triggers to create real-time interactive lighting control
  • By scheduler for an automatic long-term setting with perfect local time synchronisation via NTP
  • By customised user interface for hassle-free direct control

Flexible installation and management

Whether you're working in a compact space or a large-scale venue, the S-Play SP1-1 can seamlessly integrate into your setup. Install it anywhere and enjoy.

Mounting? Done. The S-Play SP1-1 offers versatile installation possibilities with rack-mount, DIN-rail-mount, and surface-mount options, making it adaptable to a wide range of environments.

Power? No hassles there: the S-Play SP1-1 can be powered with 12–24V DC via the barrel jack power input, or with Power over Ethernet. And you don't need a beefy power supply: it only draws 8W at most. Also, there's a safety clip to prevent damage to your power supply cable or the cable being accidentally disconnected – simply use a cable tie to fasten your power cord securely to it and enjoy the peace of mind.

Configuration? Easy. There's an intuitive web interface for effortless configuration. Use it to access the full functionality of the device: create and manage playlists, record cues, apply firmware updates, and more. There's also an onboard menu screen with navigational buttons for access to playlists, device settings, and other important features on the fly.

Remote configuration? Sure. Remote access lets you access one or multiple S-Plays through a cloud server from anywhere in the world.

Need scale? Multi-Sync. With Multi-Sync, you can sync multiple S-Play SP1-1's on the same network when you need more than 32 universes, empowering the creation of stunning, expansive installations and unlocking unparalleled flexibility and scalability for your lighting setups. The leader S-Play can synchronise follower S-Plays to enable recording and playback with increased capacity, and you can set playlist schedules that sync the playlist command across follower S-Plays.

Lengthy show? Not a problem. The internal storage can store over 10 hours of 32 universes at 44 FPS. If that's not enough for you, it's expandable with an external microSD card, up to 64GB – 8 times the internal storage capacity.

Backups of your hard work? Of course. A USB drive can be connected to backup and restore files. Backup functionality is available via the web interface.
