How a 0-10V Dimmer Works

A 0-10V dimmer sends a low-voltage analog control signal, ranging from 0 to 10 volts, through two dedicated control wires directly to the LED driver or ballast of a compatible fixture. At 10 volts the fixture operates at full brightness, and as the voltage decreases so does the light output, allowing for smooth, continuous dimming down to very low levels, sometimes as low as 0.1%, without the flickering or compatibility issues that can arise with phase-cut dimming systems. Because the control signal travels on a separate low-voltage circuit from the main power supply, 0-10V dimming integrates cleanly with building automation platforms, smart home systems, and centralized lighting control setups.
